First of all, the graphic at the top. OMGoddess. You are hilarious AND smart AND right the F on. The hypocrisy is off the charts amongst those right-wing so-called "Christians." Reminds me of when I was giving my Persuasive Speech in college. The assignment was to choose ANY topic we had a strong opinion about, it could be controversial or not, and present only one side, with the goal being to persuade the listeners that our POV is right.
I chose abortion. I wrote and presented a kick-ass speech about how making abortion illegal a) doesn't even reduce abortions, it kills women; b) is a political misogynistic move designed to control women; and c) the very people lobbying to make it illegal also cut funding for school lunches, and every existing program to help poor families. Hello?! Right? The other students LOVED my speech.
The f*cking right-wing lunatic professor gave me a C.

I had straight As in every class. He gave every other student a B or mostly As.
I don't take this shit lying down. Uh-uh.
I approached him IMMEDIATELY and in front of the other students asked why my speech got a C and everybody else got an A or B and clearly I was persuasive.
The m*thaf*cka said, "Because what you said wasn't factually true. You were lying just to promote your own leftist feminist agenda. That's not persuasion. That's propaganda" !
Here's where the story gets really good. Lean in.
Another female student stood up and declared, "Excuse me! Excuse me! I am normally very quiet and shy as all of you know by now, and I never do this sort of thing, but I have to speak up. Because my father is a minister at one of those very churches. And let me tell yousomething. Everything she just said in her speech is 100% true! My father publicly criticizes any woman who would even think of getting an abortion, even in cases of rape or incest, but guess what? He had an affair. Cheated on my mom and got caught, but youknow what else he did? He forced his mistress to get an abortion! They are the biggest hypocrites in the world! So you'd better give her that A or I'm gonna march down to the dean with her and protest that you are not grading fairly."
He gave me the A.
And everyone in the class gave her—and me—a standing ovation.
I will totally be my kid's school's Lady Whistledown. I regularly call out one of the more involved PTA moms on my own Substack for deliberately keeping my neurodivergent daughter from joining Girl Scouts (she's a troop leader and was all too quick to tell me "We're full!" when I asked about signing my kid up).
Absolutely! I do live in a very blue area of a blue state (suburban New York City), so it's not like our school is filled with raging MAGAs. BUT, the PTA IS filled with typical Mean Girl moms who are equally problematic. Honestly, the issue among a lot of people I know is, "Well, we're rich and affluent, so what does any of this matter to me?" GROAN.
In Arlo Guthrie's song Alice's Restaurant there's a great line about "Father Rapers and Mother killers" in the song, it's funny (context is everything). The thing is that the Right is constantly calling out the Left and calling us immoral because we don't clutch our pearls and Genuine Trump branded Bible (made in China just for you!). Now, the Left is by no means perfect, no large group of people is — but we're not obsessed with checking people's junk before they use a restroom.
When I see a story about someone having or making child pornography or actually abusing children, it's almost certainly going to be a moral patriotic Christian Nationalist Trump supporter.
For at least two of the past eight or nine years, during the ultra conservative CPAC conference, the app Grindr crashed due to being overloaded by too much local traffic in the city where the convention took place. The hypocracy is mind blowing.
If I were to read a headline tomorrow about one o' them Father rapers or Mother Killers, I'll be pretty sure that I know who the suspect voted forces and that they were a "good Christian"...
