Why I’m voting blue
Our political system has finally succeeded in giving us a choice between two evils
Since I can remember being able to vote, I have been registered as an independent. Always striving for and hoping for a better choice to lead our young country towards the dream of peace and prosperity our country was founded on.
With each election another ray of hope extinguished. Over and over again we are forced into a box with a scorpion and a spider.
And here we are standing at the precipice of whether we will continue to be a democracy, as flawed as it is, or will we end up like the fledgling countries before us, turning into another mass of people ruled over by a tyrant.
Because this is our choice right now. Many of my friends rail against the Democrats and how they are “just as bad”, and in many ways, I can agree with them.
But that’s not what this election is about right now. I can’t live in the past and hope for an ideology that just doesn’t exist right now.
The only thing I can do is vote blue to save my daughter’s rights, and all of my wonderful friends who have already suffered years of violence and attacks on them simply for being “different”.
Ironically, they’re not very different at all. They’ve just been made the false enemy so the people will not rise up against the true tyrants.
This particular election is about only one issue. Do we want to continue to strive for the freedoms our country was founded on, or do we want to spiral downward into a cesspool of hate and fear?
For me, the choice is simple.
