sliding into my DM’s with warnings that I should behave will not silence me
Gaslighting, confusion and fear will not persuade me.
I’ve received some thoughtful (and some not-so-thoughtful) messages from followers and subscribers who feel that my writing has taken a more political turn.
Some of you miss the old me—the one who was deeply reflective, often struggling, occasionally lost in the woo-woo, and always willing to share the messiness of my love life.
But here’s the thing: I hope I never find myself in a position where I have to take up actual arms against the rising tide of fascism. Until then, I’ll wield the one weapon I do have—my voice.
What’s happening in this country, and in so many others, is wrong. Full stop.
We are witnessing the unchecked rage of powerful men, determined to disguise their fascism, racism, and misogyny as patriotism. And yes, I’ve heard from a handful of angry men gloating about their temporary victory, insisting that this won’t affect me—likely because I’m a white woman and, as long as I behave, I’ll be “safe.”
But I will not behave. And neither should you.
Now is not the time to retreat into comfort, to ignore what’s happening, or to hope it all just works itself out. That’s exactly what they’re counting on.
So here’s where I stand today: Stay alert. Stay focused. And above all, stay loud.
below is my latest musings
Oh, look, another masterclass in gaslighting—brought to you by the world’s most fragile egos. Dictators, fascists, and your garden-variety narcissists all have one thing in common: they despise reality. Why? Because reality doesn’t cater to their delusions of grandeur. So instead, they work overtime to convince you that facts are just opinions and that truth is some slippery, subjective concept open to interpretation.
It’s an old trick, a favorite among abusers and power-hungry egomaniacs—confuse people just enough to make them question what they know they saw, what they knowthey heard, and worst of all, what they know to be true. Case in point: Elon Musk casually throwing up a Nazi salute. We all saw it. It wasn’t subtle. But in true authoritarian playbook fashion, he wants us to believe our eyes were lying. That it was something else. Anything else. Because if he can make us question it, then he never has to.
Repeat a lie enough times, and it becomes the truth, right? That’s the game. And right now, our job—our only job—is to not let them win it.
Enter Trump, fresh off another round of “blame literally anyone but white men.” This time? A plane crash. His take? Obviously DEI hiring is to blame. Because in his world, the second a person of color, a woman, or an LGBTQ+ person gets a job, America starts crumbling. And because this garbage gets repeated over and over, people start nodding along like it’s gospel.
Sound familiar? It should. Hitler used the same playbook—only back then, they weren’t just blaming marginalized groups for airplane crashes; they were calling them vermin and sending them to their deaths. Today’s version is just the “polite” remix. “We’re not saying they’re ruining society… we’re just saying diversity is a problem.”
Spoiler alert: It’s the same hate, just dressed up in corporate buzzwords. And if you think it ends with blaming DEI, think again. The road we’re on is paved with history, and we already know where it leads. So the question is—are we going to let it happen again?
Stand up. Speak out. And don’t you dare let them rewrite reality.
It’s also a good time to start supporting independent artists, writers, creative, shops. The most radical thing you can do is be conscious about where you spend your money.
