Here we stand at the edge of an ending, gazing out toward the dawn of something new.
According to my astrology, the following year promises adventure—a revelation that made me sigh deeply. Nearly every year of my existence has been an adventure, some chaotic, others profound. While the allure of a far-off, exotic adventure still holds a certain charm, I’ve come to realize I no longer yearn for the wild and untamed.
This isn’t to say I’m done living. I’ve simply let go of striving for greatness—or the kind others expect. Since the day I was born, it feels as though I’ve been driven to seek, win, and chase success—always reaching for a prize perpetually dangling just out of reach. And yes, I’ve caught it more than once in this lifetime—an achievement I’m proud of and one that not everyone gets to experience.
Over the past two decades, I’ve learned a hard truth: if you create something impactful on a grand scale, the world expects you to repeat it again and again. As if achieving something remarkable once is no longer enough—society treats overachievers like a well that must be endlessly tapped, always expecting more without pause for replenishment. As if achieving something remarkable once is no longer enough—society treats overachievers like a well that must be endlessly tapped, always expecting more without pause for replenishment. I carried that expectation like a yoke for years, chasing another monumental success. But now, I’m releasing that burden.
Everything I’ve created since What the Bleep holds immense personal value—each work rich in creativity, depth, and meaning. While they may not have “hit big,” each piece has found its way to fulfilling my intended purpose. I’m proud of that, and for the first time, I’m truly at peace with it.
As I enter the next chapter of my life, my purpose grows clearer by the day. It doesn’t call for flashing lights, red carpets, or the company of famous friends. Instead, it whispers of simplicity, focus, and the joy of offering the unique gifts I was given.
Just the other day, after a much-needed break, I found myself feeling adrift. Then, I had a call with a client—a brilliant writer working on a fascinating book. As soon as the conversation began, I felt my energy shift. The collaboration, the flow of ideas, the creative exchange—it revived me. That call reaffirmed what I’ve known but sometimes forget: my joy lies in helping others bring their visions to life.
Later, when a friend remarked, “I can’t wait to see what amazing project you come up with next,” I surprised even myself by replying, “I don’t want to.” I don’t want to chase the next big thing. I’ve already done that—more than once. Now, I want to spend my days helping others achieve their dreams, living simply, and embracing life without the pressure to produce greatness.
Lately, I’ve even entertained the thought of becoming a bartender. I love connecting with people, sharing stories over cocktails, and being present in a way that feels grounding. Imagine me, in some quiet corner of the world, pouring drinks, celebrating triumphs, comforting losses, and perhaps even writing the book I’ve been toying with—not to chase a bestseller list, but to tell a story for the simple joy of it.
In the macro sense, I see the same shift happening around us. As unchecked capitalism frays the fabric of our society, more and more people are stepping away, letting go. The pursuit of success has become so warped, so relentless, that many of us no longer care. We want to create—to tell our stories, to express our truths, to reconnect with the things that make us feel alive.
For me, storytelling has always been my calling. It’s a craft I’ve honed and one I now take immense joy in sharing with others. I no longer need the stage or the spotlight. I’m content in the warmth of a quiet place, writing, reading, helping others, and wandering wherever life takes me.
As we step into 2025, I believe this calling is universal: to slow down, to untangle ourselves from the relentless rush, and to reconnect with what truly matters. Art, in all its forms, must reclaim its rightful place—not as a commodity, but as a sacred expression of our shared humanity.
That’s not to say artists shouldn’t earn a living—I firmly believe creatives deserve to be paid more for their contributions. But until our society breaks its addiction to measuring success by money alone, we must strive to support and uplift one another in the ways humans are meant to.
So, my mission for 2025 is to rediscover meaning and purpose, live authentically, create without expectation, and help others do the same.
